Cleaning the shower with my oils

So our shower has that rough pebble bottom that seems to attract dirt and hold it there forever. No matter how much I scrub it I can't get it clean. So I decided to make some homemade soft scrub. If you know me at all you know I try and use as few harsh chemicals as possible. Especially since we moved into the rv. Everything is just so much smaller in here I feel all the icky fumes and such just are more concentrated. So I grabbed my oils, the other ingredients I needed and mixed away.

Better than Soft Scrub

2 heaping Tbs of Baking Soda
3-4 Tbs of Hydrogen Peroxide (depending on desired thickness)
1 tsp of Castile Soap
3-4 drops of Lemon Essential Oil

1. Blend the oils into the baking soda to help keep them from floating on the surface of the liquids.
2. Add castile soap and mix to paste.
3. Add the hydrogen peroxide until you get the thickness you want. this will depend on the surface you are using it on.

Apply to surface using a cloth or soft bristle brush. run into the surface. Rinse clean. For tougher stains leave it sit for 5-10 minutes.

That is the recipe I used. It doesn't make a lot so if you have a big area I would double it. I will double it next time I do the shower floor.

All my goodies

The before. It was hard to get a good shot but trust me, ICK!

MUCH better. Not perfect but 95% better. I think another dose will get it all.

Ants, ants, everywhere

So the park we are at has a lot of sand. The problem with that are there are ants EVERYWHERE. They have gotten in our rig and have bitten Zoey a few times. We sucked a bunch up and I made this spray to use where they are coming in at. Just don't use it on food surfaces.

Milk Soapberry

So my in-laws were up for the weekend and my mother-in-law wanted to check out this little town called Linden TN. It has taken some older buildings and shops and started making them into little B and B's. So we piled in the van and headed over there before hitting up Franklin. It was a really small town with just a few shops on Main Street but we parked and got out to walk around anyway. We walked past this little shop, Milk Soapberry, and I paid no attention to it. I didn't need soap. Well on the way back past it I noticed the display in the window. Was that CONTAINERS?!?!?! Like for making things with OILS?!!?!? Could it really be? So I got all excited and went in. OMG IT WAS REAL! There was a store with all sorts of bottles for storing homemade things using my Young Living oils. Now if you know anything about me you know I am BEYOND obsessed with my oils and I love making things from them. Well it is hard next to impossible to find containers in person and often Amazon has more then I need or I am not sure of the size unless I can see it in person. So I was in Heaven.

The front of the store

Just look at all the goodness. Dropper bottles, DEODORANT containers (I got a big and a travel size. It is soooooo tiny and cute), spray bottles, hand soap containers, lip balm containers, and more. She also had a bunch of ingredients that I have only seen on Amazon and her prices were great. I got some grapeseed oil and arrowroot powder. She had a few things I would have loved to get like beeswax but it was out of stock. She had carrier oils, and shae butter, and and and. I would LOVE to have a place like this local to me.

She of course has a bunch of home made soaps and all the things to make your own soaps as well. It was a cute little store and well worth the drive if you are in the area. If not, you can order from her website as well. I just love helping out little local stores.

My precious Look at all the things.

See what I mean? The travel size is BEYOND cute!

Hair, sand, and doughnuts

My hair was so long that often it would get stuck between my crutches and armpit. So one night I had had enough. The Hubby jokingly said he would cut my hair. I said fine, do it. Once he realized I was serious he looked up a couple of things on Google and set to work. He did a pretty decent job. There were a few sessions of oops this side is longer so it got chopped a little more then he planned but I didn't care. I could now hobble around without pulling my hair every 5 hobbles. Here is the next day. I have no clue what face I was making but you can see the haircut.
Since I could now hobble around on my crutches without ripping my hair our and I was no longer worried about getting sand in my cast and it being stuck there we went to the beach. The kids played and collected shells while I sat there sifting through shells in one spot.
So The Hubby and Cat Boy went to the store and I was sitting on the couch watching the Bears game. All of the sudden I head this LOUD thump and see a flurry of white out the window. I look out the window and see Bubbles surrounded by falling feathers. Apparently she had pounced on a bird. LOL We try not to let her out but sometimes she is faster then us. She has a bell on her collar so that usually alerts prey to her approach but this bird must not have heard her. I grabbed The Boy and we went outside to look for the bird. We looked under the RV, on top of the RV, and all around. Nothing. So it must have gotten away. When The Hubby got home he went to look around a bit more but didn't see it anywhere either.
The Hubby and the Boys went to the beach one day while I sat with Princess in the RV as she napped. I got a call that when she got up I needed to come down and see the castle The Hubby had made. Apparently Cat Boy had told him that there was no way he could make a castle in the sand with just his hands. So The Hubby had to prove him wrong. So he sat there for a couple hours with the boys helping him building his castle. He even checked on it for the next few days and it was still there!
The RV park has an outdoor water park that is closed this time of year. They also have an inside pool that has a kiddie pool and hot tub. I took the boys a few times to watch them swim since I still could not swim. They loved it there and it was pretty neat at night. IT was cold for them walking back to the RV at night so they usually ran back and left me to hobble back on my own.
My foot had started to bug me sometimes. I think I was walking more then normal now that I Had the boot on. I still was not putting any weight on it but I think it still could move more in the boot then the cast. It was almost like the bottom of my foot would cramp up. Especially at night. Since it was wrapped at night I would have to take everything off and massage the bottom of my foot and then wrap myself back up. I woke up a few times a night to do this. I was always sure to put some deep relief on it and it seemed to help the muscle relax for longer then when I forgot to put it on. As my cup says, Oils are Everything!
The boys have been doing good getting back on track with school after Christmas break. Here you can see The Boy working on Time4Learning.
One of the great things about Myrtle Beach is they have a Krispy Kreme! NUMMY! I am not a huge doughnut fan but you put some HOT, FRESH Krispy Kreme doughnuts in front of me and I will go to TOWN! As you can see Princess feels the same way! LOL That face cracks me up! Of course after scarfing on doughnuts there is nothing better then a cuddle in bed with Monkey.

Monkey cooks, The Hubby has a birthday, and I get my cast off!!

Monkey loves to cook. He loves to make up stuff and see how it tastes and he loves to just help in the kitchen. I guess you can call it Home Ec. :) He knew daddy's birthday was coming up so he wanted to perfect his pancakes. So he made us all pancakes one morning to practice. He also made himself a grilled cheese for lunch. I will say he did better then I do. I may have been to culinary school but I burn grilled cheese ALL the time. I get distracted and forget I am cooking it until it is to late. My poor kids, I don't even make a new one because I know I will just burn that one too. So I just scrape off the burnt part and serve it to them. Yeah, I am that mom.

We mostly just hung around the RV for the next few weeks. It was kinda chilly out and with me still having my cast on it was just better to stay at home. We did make it out to the park a few times for the kids to play. I was able to crutch my way down there but still had to make sure The Hubby was with the help with Princess. She wanted to be big like the other boys and go weeeeee in the big swing. I really enjoyed being able to sit at the park, watch the kids play, and hear the ocean all at the same time.

The Hubby's birthday was highly anticipated by Monkey. He was up bright and early trying to get me out of bed so I could supervise the pancake making. I got up and helped him get everything he needed to make the pancakes. I helped very little and most everything was done by him. He is pretty good at cracking eggs even. Monkey was very proud of his pancake pile and The Hubby said they were delish. Since The Hubby's birthday was on a week day we had gone out to dinner over the weekend. Monkey was insistent on making his daddy's birthday dinner as well so he made daddy tacos since that is another dish he can make with almost no help. He even cuts up all the fixings. It was a low key day but I think The Hubby enjoyed it.

FINALLY! The day had come. The day I was hopefully going to get my cast off. I slept like crap the night before because I was so worried they would not take it off. The Hubby said I was being silly but I couldn't help but worry. I went in, they cut off my cast, they x-rayed me, and I waited. It was the LONGEST wait ever. I poked at my foot, moved it, ect while I waited. It felt fine. I knew it had to be fine. Then the doctor came in. Asked me how I was doing, if I had any pain, ect. I told him it felt great. He then dropped the bomb. He wanted me to keep it on another 2-4 weeks. I felt like I had just got sucker punched. I was CRUSHED! I am not going to lie, my eyes welled up with tears and I started to cry a little. I let him know how crushed I was. That I was hoping to move to the boot so we could move on and get to a new location. How The Hubby was supposed to be going out of the country in a few weeks and when I had called asking his assistant she was sure I would be good. That if I had to be in a cast and still not driving and he had to be gone I would need to go be close to family in VA or KY. He took pity on me and said we could try moving to the foot well wrapped and with the boot but still with NO weight bearing for 2 weeks then re-evaluate. That way I could sleep better, shower, and not feel so hopeless. I was very relieved! Turns out The Hubby didn't have to go out of town so that was a relief. I went back in 2 weeks and I was cleared to start walking on it and even better MOVE! I had to walk with the boot a couple more weeks but it was so much better then having the crutches!

When I got home the first thing I did was make a mixture of Jojoba oil, lavender, and frankincense, and rub it all over my leg and foot. My skin was SO dry and nasty. It was insane how dry your skin can get. I lathered all the oil on me, put my boot on and went about my day. About 4 hrs later I took my boot off to put more oil on and I was AMAZED a the difference. So much of the bead skin was in my boot eewwww gone and the rest just rubbed right off. It was soooo gross but I Was amazed at how well my Young Living Oils had helped. I took the after pictures when I took my boot off that first time. I did end up putting more oil on after the picture just to give my skin a little more of a drink but that was it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these oils.
